SYMPOSIUM: Contemporary Chinese Art and Artists

Possibilities, Concerns and Constraints

  • 2. maj, 10.30-15.00 AFLYST pga. corona
  • Kunsthal Aarhus

The symposium will feature three different perspectives on contemporary Chinese art and artists offered by a the wellknown Chinese artist Wang Ningde (Beijing) Museum Director Duan Yuting (Guangzhou) and Associate Professor Sasha Su-Ling Welland (Seattle).

All three will talk about how the radical and rapid political, economic and social developments have affected the Chinese art scene and Chinese art production. By exploring China’s complex cultural production by Chinese artists, we aim to provide an occasion to present different outlooks on the concerns, possibilities and constraints facing Chinese artists, their productions and domestic exhibitions in their pursuit to artistically reflect on and express civilian life in China.

The symposium will be held in English. Registration is needed.
